Dear Friends, 

Last week, we opened Arnold Kemp: Not One Thing and SMFA at 150: Looking Back, two sweeping exhibitions that spotlight the legacies of experimental artistic practices at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) at Tufts in its 150th year. Both were developed and brought to life through deeply collaborative processes, which feels quite apt in our first season as Interim Co-Directors. 

We can’t wait to welcome you into the Galleries this August and into the coming months. Both TUAG locations are now open Tuesday through Sunday 11AM-5PM (with new late night hours until 8PM on Thursdays!), and save the date for our community-wide celebrations on September 17 in Boston (RSVP here) and September 24 in Medford (RSVP here). We are honored to announce coalition support for TUAG’s regional regranting initiative Collective Futures Fund  (CFF) from Barr Foundation and Wagner Foundation alongside the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts in a landmark expansion of the program.  

The Barr Foundation has committed $200,000 over two funding cycles, and Wagner Foundation has granted $30,000 for operational support during the 2026–2027 year. This crucial funding will expand the seventh cycle of the Collective Futures Fund program to a total of $185,000 per year in direct artist support. 

Over six cycles, CFF has supported artists engaged in collaborative and public-oriented projects, with an emphasis on experimentation, risk-taking, and unconventional perspectives. We’re grateful for this support in continuing our mission to support experimental, artist-led projects in the Greater Boston Area.
