This February marks the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, and we’re gearing up for an exciting week of collaborations with Magical Thinking, of Systems and Beliefs featured artist Jonathan González and the Museum of African American History (MAAH), Boston / Nantucket as part of their ambitious slate of programming in celebration of this milestone. We’re going deep into archival research and site-specific performance with Surfacing Site, a panel discussion at TUAG / Boston with González, MAAH Chief Curator and Director of Collections Angela T. Tate, and playwright Phillip Howze, moderated by exhibition curator Laurel V. McLaughlin, and the world premiere of suite for a minor meeting, a new commission by González presented in partnership with MAAH that will be realized at the historic African Meeting House in Beacon Hill. |
